The food and beverage tax may have died in 2013, but a convention
center expansion plan could get new life in the new year under a proposed
innkeeper’s tax increase.
On Nov. 27, the Monroe County Board of Commissioners sent a letter
to state representatives asking that the innkeeper’s tax in Monroe County be
raised from 5 percent to 8 percent.
