Franklin Board Considering Options for Redevelopment

From the Johnson County Daily Journal:

A Franklin city board is deciding its role in redeveloping properties in the city.

The Franklin Redevelopment Commission is looking to sell property it owns, moving forward with a partnership to build a shell building for a future business and considering whether to take ownership of and tear down a former assisted-living facility.

All of those decisions are facing the five-member appointed board, which oversees the spending of more than $5 million in property taxes collected from city businesses and then set aside for economic development.

Board members said the goal of the projects is to promote redevelopment and economic development, which could help attract more people and businesses to the city.
