During the Clay County Council meeting Monday, the council passed Resolution No. 4-2013, which requested a seven-year tax abatement for personal property tax by PDF, Inc., a specialty design and fabrication/manufacturing facility producing parts as well as special OEM machinery and equipment, which is marketed under the brand name of Process Development & Fabrication, Inc. The company is located at 10102 N. Murphy Ave., Brazil.
The company is adding a new laser system, which will in turn require two new full-time jobs.
"I'm glad you are bringing more jobs to Clay County," Council member Rita Rothrock said.
The cost of the new system is approximately $501,000. The new laser system is a different type of laser with fewer mirrors and newer technology. According to officials, the company has six working lasers in the facility, and the company's revenue is up by 25 percent.
The Clay County Redevelopment Commission recommended the abatement. At the May meeting, the public has the opportunity to object to the abatement before it is officially approved.
