Greenwood is considering increasing a property tax rate that pays for projects, such as road work, and purchases, such as new software.
Whether the rate hike would result in an actual increase in the property tax bills of residents and business owners isn’t known yet. The city won’t know what the effect is on property owners’ pocketbooks until there’s an estimate of the total value of taxable property in the city, which is used to calculate tax bills, Controller Adam Stone said.
