From the Northwest Indiana Times:
The deadline for Hoosiers to file their 2012 federal and state income tax returns is Monday.
The Indiana Department of Revenue recommends taxpayers file electronically. The agency offers several free e-filing options for taxpayers whose incomes were less than $57,000 last year.
Links to free filing programs and printable tax forms are available on the state revenue department's website: in.gov/dor.
Federal tax forms are also available online at irs.gov.
Hoosiers unable to meet the filing deadline can obtain an automatic extension of time to file by submitting Form IT-9 and paying at least 90 percent of owed taxes by Monday.
The extension moves the filing deadline to mid-June and waives late-filing penalties, but taxpayers will be charged interest on any unpaid taxes.
Most Hoosiers are eligible for the $111 automatic taxpayer refund and must submit a tax return to claim their share of the state's budget surplus.
