Daily Journal Reports Home Value Appeals Delayed in Johnson County

Johnson County Daily Journal:

For more than a year, Pence Pruitt has waited for a resolution to his appeal of the value of the apartment building he owns, after it more than doubled.

Pruitt, a Nineveh resident, owns the building where he lives, which he converted to apartments about 12 years ago. The value of the structure in 2012 was about $22,000. That jumped after a countywide reassessment to $55,800 on his 2013 tax bill.

He filed an appeal more than a year ago and will finally get an appeal hearing this spring, where he can argue to have the value of his property lowered.
