Journal-Gazette Reports Jack Cooper Transport Seeks Abatement for Investment in Roanoke

From the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette:

Jack Cooper Transport Co. Inc. wants to invest $1.5 million, while creating 12 jobs, at a Roanoke operation.

Officials at the business have applied for a pair of tax abatements that will save about $190,000 during a 10-year period, according to paperwork filed with the Allen County Department of Planning Services.

Jack Cooper intends to build a 33,440-square-foot trucking terminal and maintenance complex on Fogwell Parkway, near the General Motors truck plant.

Terminal Manager Brian Walters said Kansas City, Mo.-based Jack Cooper has worked out of trailers on GM property for the last three years and is looking forward to a permanent address.

"We'll be right across the street from GM," said Walters, whose company hauls new trucks nationwide for the automaker.
