Jesus L. Ortiz Jr. will remain on the May 6 Democratic primary ballot as a qualified candidate for Lake County assessor.
Donna Venbeeken, of Schererville, challenged Ortiz last week on grounds he wasn't properly certified to that elected office.
Venbeeken said Friday she withdrew her challenge after learning Ortiz has taken and passed the required Level 3 assessor/appraiser competency tests.
The county election board is scheduled to meet Tuesday to hear challenges to four other candidates running for municipal and township offices.
