From the Greenfield Daily Reporter:
A Hancock County board is considering capturing more tax revenue to aid economic development, but the idea is putting county and school officials at odds.
The Hancock County Redevelopment Commission is thinking about appropriating the personal property taxes that will be paid by Tsuda Industries, the Japanese auto parts maker that plans to open a new plant next year just north of Interstate 70 between CRs 400W and 500W.
The commission is charged with handling revenue from the county’s Tax Increment Finance district, located near Interstate 70 and Mt. Comfort Road. In TIF districts, property taxes are captured and spent on infrastructure improvement within the district.
