Tribune Reports Tipton County Businesses Must Pay Property Taxes or Lose County Contracts

From the Kokomo Tribune:

Tipton County businesses wanting to provide services or supplies to county offices will have to be current on their real and personal property tax payments.

The Tipton County commissioners Monday adopted a resolution requiring local businesses be up to date on all taxes and current with their personal property declaration form filings at the auditor’s office.

Under the wording of the resolution, if a Tipton County business is delinquent on either its real or personal property tax payments or has not filed the necessary personal property declaration forms, it’s ineligible to do business with county offices.

The resolution also provides that if a contract has been signed for services or materials and the taxes are unpaid, the contract will be canceled and determined to be void.

Brooke said the resolution, as written, only covers businesses located in Tipton County.
