Daily Journal Reports Greenwood Vote Backs County Innskeeper's Tax

From the Johnson County Daily Journal:

Greenwood has voiced its support for a new tax the county is considering on local hotel and motel stays.

The Greenwood City Council a proved signing a letter to the county supporting the tax, which the county council plans to vote on in January and possibly implement in July. The council approved the letter with an 8 to 1 vote. Council member Bruce Armstrong voted against it.

Money collected from the tax on local hotel and motel stays would fund a convention and visitors bureau, which would market attractions in the county and the cities and towns, city council member Linda Gibson said.
