The move of Townsend Corp. to the Ontario Business Park west of downtown Muncie won’t create any new jobs, but it will move an estimated 35 jobs — with a payroll of about $2.9 million — from Parker City to Muncie.
Todd Donati, the ex-county commissioner recently named director of business development for the Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance, made that announcement at Monday night’s Muncie City Council meeting.
The council voted 8-0 to grant a two-year tax abatement on the now-vacant building space Townsend intends to buy, at the site of the former Meadows Shopping Center.

A supplier to Subaru of Indiana Automotive won preliminary approval Monday night on its request for tax abatement on new equipment.
Heartland Automotive, LLC is seeking a seven-year tax abatement on $7.2 million in new injection molding machinery, which will be used to produce plastic parts for SIA.
“This is a big investment, and without your support our company wouldn’t succeed,” said Ritsuko Abrams, Heartland Automotive business project manager.

On a unanimous vote, the Lafayette city council granted initial approval. The council will take a final vote on the request next month.

Indianapolis-based Hahn Systems LLC, a supplier of construction and industrial tools, announced Tuesday morning that it plans to add 20 jobs by 2016 as part of a $900,000 expansion.
The company said the investment will go toward purchasing and equipping a 27,000-square-foot facility at 6312 Southeastern Ave. on the city's southeast side. Hahn's current address is 5762 W. 74th St.
The new building will house the company’s Southeastern Supply Co. division, which is expected to be operational by June. Hahn Systems has 50 employees and has begun hiring for additional sales, customer service and delivery positions.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. said it will provide Hahn Systems up to $140,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $20,000 in training grants based on the company's job-creation plans. The city of Indianapolis approved additional tax abatements.

Genesis Products Inc. announced Monday that it will expand its operations, with plans to invest $4 million to renovate and equip its facility and add up to 100 additional jobs by 2016.
The company, located at 1806 Conant Ave., is a wood-products manufacturer for the RV, kitchen cabinet and furniture industries.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered the Elkhart-based company up to $475,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $5,000 in training grants as incentives, which they can get after creating jobs. The City of Elkhart approved additional property tax breaks.
