Star-Press Reports Delaware County Offers E-Bills for Property Taxes

From the Muncie Star-Press:

Taxpayers in Delaware County have a new option for receiving their 2013 property tax statements – through their e-mail account.

The Indiana General Assembly first gave counties the option to send bills through email in 2009 with the adoption of House Enrolled Act 1344. Delaware County, however, is among the first counties in the state to authorize the program, approved by the Delaware County commissioners last August, according to a press release.

Electronic property tax bills save the county money by eliminating paper, postage and other printing and handling costs for taxpayers who elect the option. All property owners have the option of receiving their property tax billing statement by email, even if the tax bill is paid through an escrow account by their mortgage company.

Electronic property tax bills will be available for the May 2013 billing, should taxpayers choose to review and pay their bills online.

Taxpayers who wish to receive their property tax bill by email can sign up at www.sri-taxpayerconnection.com. The program is voluntary.
