Banner-Graphic Reports Putnam County Property Tax Bills Mailed

From the Greencastle Banner-Graphic:

Property tax bills have been mailed, the Putnam County treasurer said Thursday.

Treasurer Sharon Owens released a statement saying the bills have been mailed, a little more than two weeks before the first installment is due on Friday, May 10.

Anyone wishing to mail his or her property tax payment may address it to Putnam County Treasurer, P.O. Box 508, Greencastle, IN 46135. To receive a receipt, include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Property taxes may also be paid at the following banks: Old National Bank, First National Bank, North Salem State Bank and Tri-County Bank & Trust. In order for the banks to process the payment, residents must provide their tax statements.

Payments are also welcomed in the Putnam County Treasurer's Office, located on the second floor of the Putnam County Courthouse. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.--4 p.m.

The final option is to make the tax payment with a credit card or debit card online at www.putnamtax.net or by calling 1-800-809-5849. There is a processing fee for using the online or phone payment option.

No credit or debit card payments are accepted in the Treasurer's Office.

All payments must be made or postmarked by May 10 to avoid a late penalty charge.
