News and Tribune Reports Four Companies Seek Abatement for Expansion in Clark County

From the Clark County News and Tribune:

Three Jeffersonville businesses and one in Sellersburg are poised for expansion, according to a press release issued by One Southern Indiana on Wednesday.
The three Jeffersonville businesses — Accentf(x), Heritage Hardwoods and Steel Dynamics — plan to invest back into their operations through the addition of jobs and new equipment, according to the release.
...
• Accentf(x), a local database marketing agency, will add $1.1 million in payroll with 35 direct-mail production jobs at its Jeffersonville facility. The company also plans on adding $200,000 worth of new equipment.
• Heritage Hardwoods, a Jeffersonville manufacturer of cut-to-size veneer, will add 14 new employees and spend $1.6 million on additional production space.
• Steel Dynamics will update its Jeffersonville production line to remain competitive and to position itself for further growth. The company will make a $5.7 million investment in machinery and equipment and an additional $2.1 million investment in other related costs. While these investments will not result in an increased number of employees in the near term, the firm is committed to retaining 98 present-day jobs, representing an annual payroll of $8.5 million. Further, Steel Dynamics then will be in position to add additional employees in its future phases of development.

Each of the three companies sought final approval for pending tax abatement requests through the Jeffersonville Redevelopment Commission on Wednesday. If the redevelopment commission approves the proposals, then the companies will be eligible to seek local tax incentives from the Jeffersonville City Council at its May 6 meeting.
Sellersburg Heating and Air Conditioning Inc. is also in expansion mode. The Henryville-based company recently was awarded a tax abatement for an expansion project in Sellersburg by the Clark County Council. The project will bring more than $844,000 in real estate investment, more than $70,000 in equipment and the addition of nine jobs, according to the release.
