With Gov. Mike Pence not backing down from his proposed income tax cut, local officials are giving a mixed reaction over what the state Legislature should do.
A battle is growing among Republicans at the Statehouse over Pence’s income tax cut. The debate comes down to whether taxpayers should get a break vs. boosting funds for schools and roadwork.
While tea party leaders in the county wholeheartedly agree with the idea of an income tax cut, city and county officials who have long worried over declining revenue for aging streets and roads say something needs to be done to put more money toward repairs.
