IBJ Reports Berry Plastics Offered Tax Credits for Expansion in Evansville

From the Indianapolis Business Journal:

Evansville-based Berry Plastics Corp. plans to spend more than $31 million to beef up four of its Indiana manufacturing operations, creating up to 336 new jobs by the end of this year.

The manufacturer of plastic packaging intends to invest $21 million on new infrastructure and equipment in the expansion at the four facilities, according to state economic development officials. They are located in downtown Evansville, at the Evansville Regional Airport, and in Princeton and Richmond.

The firm also expects to spend $10 million to transfer existing equipment from out-of-state operations to the four locations.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered Berry up to $2.35 million in conditional tax credits and $300,000 in training grants based on the company’s job-creation plans.
