The Bristol town council approved a declaratory resolution to grant a five-year tax abatement to Satellite Industries at a special meeting Friday, Jan. 10.
Satellite Industries is the world’s largest supplier of products to the portable restroom industry, including restrooms, trucks and deodorizers. The company, headquartered in Minneapolis, is looking to locate their global headquarters in the Bristol Park for Industry on Commerce Drive.
Satellite Industries plans to invest a total of $6,915,290 in a new facility and equipment and to create 19 jobs by 2016. The average wage, excluding benefits or bonus, will be $13 per hour. The company expansion would be in two phases. Phase one is a distribution facility for portable sanitation products world-wide; phase two is a manufacturing facility.
The company requested a $2,550,000 tax abatement on the land and $845,000 on equipment. The council held the special meeting to expedite the abatement process. Last month the council gave Satellite Industries a letter of support. A public hearing and approval of the confirmatory resolution for the abatement is planned for 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7.
