From Inside INdiana Business:
Berry Plastics Corporation in Richmond will receive a $71,850 Economic Development Income Tax (EDIT) grant from the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) of Wayne County. The company will be adding new equipment to expand their product lines. They will create 10 new jobs and invest $4.4 million in the project. Mark Smith, Chair of the EDC of Wayne County Board of Directors says this is just another example of how important our existing companies are to the community. “Berry Plastics Corporation is making an investment and creating jobs for our community. We’re happy to be able to work with them on this project.”
The EDIT grant will be used to help offset the cost of the purchase and installation of new equipment and to assist with the required training of staff. Berry Plastics Corporation has approximately 80 facilities worldwide. The Richmond facility produces packaging for food as well as provides the printing for the containers. Richmond Mayor, Sally Hutton says this is a great project for the community. “Berry Plastics has numerous locations where expansions can occur. We’re thrilled they’ve chosen the Richmond location for this project.” The request for funds will now go before the Wayne County Commissioners.
