From the Crawfordsville Journal-Review:
A tax-neutral referendum for a building project at Tuttle —one that would take about three years to complete and carry a price tag of $26-$35 million — will be on the ballot for the May 8 primary election.

Tuttle was originally opened Nov. 7, 1906, as Tuttle Grade School. As Crawfordsville’s population steadily increased, the school became too small. It was demolished in December 1959, and the current school, which offered classes for students in grades seven through nine, opened in 1960. The school was restructured in 1986 to accommodate students in grades six through eight.
The last major renovations and updates to Tuttle were completed in 2000 and 2001. The roof has major leaks in many places. The school has inefficient, potentially dangerous window walls and deteriorating brickwork. The electrical, heating and cooling and sewer systems do not operate properly and there are no working showers in the boys’ locker room (there is one in the girls’ locker room).
Presently, Tuttle’s total enrollment stands at about 600 students.
