Since Legislation, Johnson County has had Four Rejected Referendum Votes

From the Johnson County Daily News:

Since state lawmakers approved a new process of governments borrowing money, Johnson County voters have gone to vote yes or no four times.

In four years, local voters have decided on the future of four local government projects in a referendum — building projects at Nineveh-Hensley-Jackson schools, a jail expansion, more money for Center Grove schools and a new Franklin library.

Last year, a project to build a pool and city building in Greenwood was slated to go on ballots but was removed before the election. And Greenwood could be considering a referendum this fall to build a new city pool.

Each time local residents have been asked to vote on a project and to increase their property taxes, the answer has been no.
