Lake County Councilwoman Christine Cid, D-East Chicago, will hold an information forum this weekend on a proposed county income tax.
She plans to meet with the public 11 a.m. Saturday in the banquet room at the Highland Park Department's Lincoln Center, 2450 Lincoln St.
Cid said she hopes to answer questions from the public about the proposed 1.5 percent tax on the personal incomes of all county residents and out-of-state residents working in Lake County.
She voted against the tax April 9, when the council approved the ordinances on first reading by a 4-3 vote.
The council is scheduled to take up the tax on second reading at 4:30 p.m. Monday in the Syd Garner Auditorium at the Lake County Government Complex, 2293 N. Main St., Crown Point.
If the tax is approved again, it will go before the Lake County Board of Commissioners at 8:30 a.m. May 10. Two of the three commissioners have promised to veto it.
If vetoed, the tax would die unless the County Council overrides the veto with a five-vote super majority.
