From the Bloomington Herald-Times:
The signatures are in, they are being counted, and the outcome will determine if Brown County property owners will see a tax increase to fund a renovation and expansion at the county courthouse in Nashville.
County commissioners approved the $6.5 million plan, then faced a taxpayer remonstrance when more than 200 people signed a petition against the tax increase necessary to pay off a bond issue for the project. Officials estimate that someone owning property valued at $100,000 would pay an additional $22 a year in taxes to fund the courthouse renovation.
