IBJ Reports Systems in Motion Offered Tax Credits for Expansion in Kokomo

From the Indianapolis Business Journal:

Systems in Motion LLC, a California-based technology consulting firm, plans to expand its operations in Kokomo and Carmel and create 400 jobs by 2017.

The company plans to lease up to 25,000 square feet of space in downtown Kokomo’s historic Firestone Building, where it expects to hire about 240 workers, the firm announced Monday. It also intends to expand its existing offices in Carmel by 15,000 square feet and hire an additional 160 workers.

Between the two projects, the Newark, Calif.-based company expects to invest about $5.4 million in lease, renovate and equip the two properties. The projects are expected to be complete by December 2016, but the firm plans to begin hiring next month.

Systems in Motion already operates at 2747 S. Albright Road in Kokomo and 11550 N. Meridian St. in Carmel, with 25 employees between the two locations.

Founded in 2009, Systems in Motion is an infotech consulting and outsourcing firm, working with clients in the financial service, retail, life science, entertainment, mobility and hospitality sectors.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered Systems in Motion up to $5.65 million in conditional tax credits and $100,000 in training grants, based on the company’s job-creation plans. The tax incentives are performance-based, meaning that they won’t go into effect until workers are hired.

The average monthly salary for the new jobs will be about $6,500, including benefits, according to a company spokesman.

The city of Kokomo has approved additional incentives at the request of the Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance.
