Casino Revenue Down; State Wagering Tax Collections Fall

Business was down last month at Indiana's casinos and Evansville's Casino Aztar was no exception, according to figures from the Indiana Gaming Commission.
Aztar's revenue from table games and electronic gaming totaled $8.7 million in October, down 8 percent as compared to a year ago.
Taken as a whole, Indiana's 13 casinos earned a combined $199.8 million in revenue last month, which was also down 8 percent as compared to last October.
The numbers come from the Indiana Gaming Commission's October revenue report, which was released Thursday.

Aztar had a turnstile count of 88,477 last month, down 12 percent as compared to October 2011.
Statewide, Hoosier casinos had 1.8 million visitors, down 11 percent from a year ago.

Indiana's casinos pay taxes based on how many people visit their facilities and how much they wager.
Aztar paid just under $2 million last month, down 9 percent as compared to October 2011.
