Abdul: IACT Pushes for Power to Adopt Local Income Tax

From IndyPolitics.org:

The head of the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns says the organization will try to push for legislation that gives more local governments more control from the state when lawmakers return in January.
Matt Greller says the state should learn to trust local governments when it comes to their finances as well public health and safety.
Two of the measures IACT will push for include giving cities and towns the power to adopt local income taxes without having to wait for the county to do it as well the ability to capture from local income tax dollars from the state.
Greller says they will also survey which communities want to adopt a food and beverage tax and push for legislation so they can be included in one bill as opposed to piecemeal.
He adds with the advent of property tax caps, local governments are much more reliant on the sales and incomes taxes associated with  economic development.  You can hear his comments below. They run approximately 10 minutes.
