Palladium-Item Reports Union County Collects 96% of Property Taxes

From the Richmond Palladium-Item:

Union County collected nearly 96 percent of its property taxes in 2012, Treasurer Bonnie Adams told county commissioners this week.

The high collection rate means only about $300,000 in taxes are delinquent for 2012, Adams said.

The investment of county funds generated $43,000 in interest for the county’s General Fund, Adams said.

The Union County Board of Finance, which is made up by the three commissioners, adopted an investment policy allowing the treasurer to invest funds for two to five years, a policy the county council endorsed last year.
