Instructions for Paying Property Taxes Due November 12 in Elkhart and Newton Counties

From the Elkhart Truth:

Landowners have until Nov. 12 to pay the second installment of 2013 property taxes.

Payments will be accepted before the deadline via snail mail, online, over the phone and at six area banks. The Elkhart County treasurer’s office mailed spring and fall payment coupons to property owners in April.

Taxpayers who mail their payments should make sure their envelopes are postmarked by Nov. 12 to avoid a penalty. Payments are accepted online at invoicecloud.com/elkhart and by calling (888) 881-9911. Property owners can also pay their taxes at Lake City, 1st Source, First State Bank of Middlebury, Indiana Community, Old National and Interra Credit Union.

Property tax information and statement copies are available at invoicecloud.com/elkhart.

The county treasurer’s office, 117 N. Second St. in Goshen, is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. County offices will be closed Nov. 11 for Veterans Day. The treasurer’s office can be reached at 535-6759 or 535-6729 or by emailing treasurer@elkhartcounty.com.

Questions about deductions should be directed to the Elkhart County auditor’s office at 535-6710 or 535-6720. Taxpayers who have questions about property assessments in Concord Township should call the Concord Township assessor’s office at 523-2217. For assessment information in other parts of the county, call 535-6700.
