Republican Reports Rush County Taxes Due November 12

From the Rushville Republican:

Cindy Humphrey, Rush County Treasurer would like to remind Rush County Taxpayers that it is time to find those Fall Tax bills. The Fall statement or “B” copy is needed for your Fall payment. Lost bills may be duplicated in the Treasurer’s Office. Nov. 10 falls on a Sunday this year and Monday, Nov. 11 is Veterans’ Day, so taxes are not due until Tuesday, Nov.12. All payments received after Nov. 12 will receive a 5% penalty for the first 30 days and a 10% penalty after 30 days.]

The Treasurer’s Office is available to receive your payments from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday thru Friday. The office is located on the second floor of the Rush County Courthouse. Cash and check payments will be received. All checks should be made payable to the Rush County Treasurer.

All taxpayers are welcome to pay their taxes at MainSource bank downtown and the Foster Heights branch.

When paying by mail please include only the treasurer’s copy “B” of your statement. Please retain the taxpayer’s copy “C” for your receipt. Allow sufficient time for mailing. All payments must be postmarked Nov. 12. A media service is available called iFreedom. View your tax information and your payment history, make secure credit card payments, or receive email receipts for your records. Simply go to www.rushcountytax.net or call iFreedom at (800) 809-5849 and speak with a live representative from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. A public terminal will be available in the Treasurer’s Office for credit card payments. IFreedom assesses a 2.95% service fee.

This is also a great time to check your tax exemptions. Have you moved recently and need to re-file your Homestead exemption, refinanced and have a new mortgage; or have you turned sixty-five this year? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may be eligible to receive a tax exemption. The Treasurer may be reached at 932-2386 or at treasurer@rushcounty.in.gov.
