Union County’s plan to
use the wheel and surtaxes that were hiked in 2010 is already under way.
Some residents at a
hearing last week criticized county officials for increasing vehicle taxes but
not spending the money to pave roads.
County commissioners this
week produced the plan highway supervisor Jeff Bowers prepared earlier this
year, a plan with a total cost of about $377,000. The money comes from wheel
and surtaxes, the Local Road and Street Fund and the Highway General Fund.
