From the Columbus Republic:
The Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. plans to ask voters in the fall to approve a 5-cent property tax increase to pay for early-childhood education programs for 4-year-olds.
Administrators will introduce the referendum question to be placed on the November election ballot at a school board meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the school administration building, 1200 Central Ave.
Superintendent John Quick said voters would be asked to OK a 5-cent increase in the tax rate for seven years, an amount that would add up to $32 a year for a home valued at $150,000. The 5-cent increase would be on top of the district’s current tuition support rate of 89 cents on each $100 of assessed value.
