Johnson County Seeks Input on Libraries after Referendum

From the Johnson County Daily News:

You can have your say about the future of the Franklin library at a public meeting next week.

The Johnson County Public Library District board is considering its next steps after voters rejected a $29.9 million downtown Franklin project by a three-to-one margin. The library has since given up its claim to land where the library branch would have been built and started a study of the space at all four branches, including Franklin.

Board members want to hear ideas and concerns about what happens next in Franklin, board member Todd Bemis said. Residents can weigh in at 4:30p.m. Monday at the Franklin branch.

“We’d like people to talk about the direction of the Franklin branch,” he said. “We’d like to hear what they would like to see in the Franklin branch and what they want moving forward.”

The meeting will be the first where residents can comment since they voted to reject the library proposal.
