From the Shelbyville News:
The Morristown Town Council met Wednesday and discussed its 2013 budget.
The council passed the final budget in a 3-0 vote.
Town Clerk-Treasurer Don Roberts had said earlier the budget was identical to 2012's and even expected a slight increase in funds from taxes.
"It's my intention to get everything we're allotted," Roberts told the council.
Roberts did say the net assessed value will be down, though.
"The one thing that'll affect everyone, the net assessed value went down about $10 million," he said.
That could mean higher property taxes for town residents.
Roberts said he will use $250,000 from Morristown's racino fund to pay for the closure of the town's old lagoon and more money will come from TIF funds and wastewater funds.
The lagoon closure is nearly complete, Roberts said.
"They do have to do some more testing, but I take it it will be mininum," he said.
