Southwestern Schools Face Few Budget Cuts

From the Madison Courier:

Southwestern Schools will face no drastic cuts or changes in next year's budget.

The total appropriation of $16,102,666 is just $5,000 less than the school district's budget for this year.

The school board approved the 2013 budget Monday with a 4-0 vote. Cree Green was absent.

The general fund was submitted at $11.5 million, while the capital projects fund was submitted at $2.2 million. The total property tax levy will be $4,225,533, which includes a 1.788 tax rate.

The budget will be sent to the Department Local Government Finance for final approval. The appropriations were advertised publicly during the school board's July and August meetings.
