Daily Journal Reports Greenwood's Budget Increases for 2014

Greenwood plans to hire new employees, spend more on street work and give raises in 2014.

The city is considering giving its employees pay raises ranging from 2 percent to 16 percent and upping its general fund spending, which pays for salaries and other expenses, to $14.2 million, or a 1.2 percent increase over this year’s budget. Overall, the city’s budget is increasing from $27.7 million to $28.7 million in 2014, or an increase of 3.7 percent.

In 2014, the city plans to spend more money on street paving and new employees who will serve as security guards at the new city building and assist the current city attorneys.
