From the Kokomo Tribune:
For the second consecutive year, employees working for the city of Tipton will be receiving a 2 percent pay increase for 2014.
The Tipton Common Council on Monday voted to approve the raise for all city employees and elected officials.
The raises were included in the 2014 budget, which is an increase in proposed general fund spending of less than 1 percent.
The 2014 general fund budget has been set at $5,864,084 which is $39,576 more than the $5,824,508 approved for 2013. The general fund portion of the budget is used to fund most government operations in Tipton.
Mayor Don Havens said the increase in general fund spending was mainly attributed to the salary increases.
Council members approved a total budget for 2014 of $7.3 million which includes $150,000 in the Rainy Day Fund, $198,464 for fire pensions, and $118,278 for police pensions and $165,000 for cumulative capital development.
Havens said several projects will be funded from the city’s share of the Economic Development Income Tax which has a 2014 budget of $403,000.
