Meijer Receives $1.2 Million Tax Incentive for Planned Operations Hub in Fort Wayne

From the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette:

Meijer Inc. is planning a $10 million operations hub in Fort Wayne.

The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based company's new facility will include more than 30 new full-time positions and operate in conjunction with its retail stores and pharmacies. The facility will use advanced technology and automation for processing merchandise for the 198 Meijer stores throughout the Midwest.

"We are pleased to continue to invest in the Fort Wayne community," Frank Guglielmi, director of public relations, said in a statement. "Meijer currently has three stores in the Fort Wayne area so we are familiar with the quality of the area and the workforce, which made the decision very logical for us."

Local and state officials have put together a tax incentive package that saves Meijer $1.2 million during a decade.
