From the Indianapolis Star:
The Westfield City Council voted 6-1 Monday night to approve a $2 million bond issue to raise money to expand the local library.
The library board proposed the bond issue in order to expand its building on Hoover Road, just south of Westfield High School. The expansion will include additional space for community meetings, more space for home-schoolers and teen users, a new computer lab and more areas for quiet work and study.
The vote was a victory for the library, which a few years ago lost a heated public vote to build a new, larger library to the north and west of its current location.
Westfield city officials say the $2 million bond will be paid off without raising local tax rates.
