A New Paris cabinet manufacturer that has more than 400 distributors across the country has committed to hiring dozens of new employees once the company relocates to the south part of town.
The Elkhart County Council approved a property tax phase-in Saturday, Sept. 14, for Smart Cabinetry LLC, which will be moving from the north part of New Paris to a new home on the corner of C.R. 23 and C.R. 50.
“It’s vitally important that we maintain our industrial base,” said Dave Ogle, director of business retention and expansion for the Economic Development Corporation of Elkhart County. “We cannot afford as a leader in industry and commerce to let that start eroding out of this marketplace.”
Smart Cabinetry plans to build a 210,000-square-foot building, which includes $5.4 million in real estate improvements over the next 10 years as well as $4.6 million in new manufacturing equipment and $180,000 in information technology equipment over the next eight years.
