Portage Approves Tax Abatements for Ratner Steel

From the Northwest Indiana Times:

"The City Council on Tuesday approved tax abatements to pave the way for the location of Ratner Steel Supply at the Port of Indiana.

The Roseville, Minn.-based company is looking to expand its operations and bring a minimum of 20 jobs to its new Portage facility by February 2013. At a maximum, the plant could eventually employ 40 people. The company has 70 employees at its Minnesota facility.

Steve Gottlieb, general manager and vice president, said construction on the 100,000-square-foot facility will begin next month with completion by late November. Operations will begin in February.
