Drilling World Gets Tax Abatement for Expansion in Shelbyville

From the Indianapolis Business Journal:

California-based manufacturer DrillingWorld plans to expand its operations in Shelbyville, adding as many as 30 jobs by 2015.

The company, which makes tools and parts for the drilling and trenching industries, could get up to $210,000 in performance-based tax credits and $35,000 in training grants from Indiana Economic Development Corp. if it follows through.

The city of Shelbyville also gave the firm a property-tax abatement on new equipment at the request of the Shelby County Development Corp.

Earlier this year, DrillingWorld invested about $1.7 million to combine its two Indianapolis-area facilities into a 59,000-square-foot facility on the southeast side of Shelbyville. It opened in April.

The company has started hiring warehouse and manufacturing staff for the Shelbyville site.
