Goshen Approves Abatement for Wildwood Millworks

From the Elkhart Truth:

The Goshen City Council agreed Tuesday evening to grant a tax abatement on the property at 2408 Lincolnway East.

Dennis Helmuth, owner of Wildwood Millworks, the manufacturing company moving into the vacant building, said Wildwood’s current building at 808 Logan St. is too small and the business is looking to expand.

The expansion, he said, would allow the company to bring on more employees as well as purchase equipment for additional manufacturing that it is presently outsourcing.

Councilman Tom Stump said he was in favor of this particular abatement but suggested the council revisit the qualifications for tax abatements in the future.

The council also approved designating 1201 Eisenhower Drive South as an economic revitalization area in order to allow Kinro Manufacturing Inc. a tax phase-in.

The city council joined the Redevelopment Commission and Board of Public Works and Safety in allowing Forest River Inc. to receive a tax abatement while in a TIF district.
