From the Johnson County Daily Journal:
Greenwood has been running through its savings since the economy soured a few years ago but will start to save money again next year with a new budget.
Mayor Mark Myers is proposing a 2013 budget of about $27 million that doesn’t spend any more than what the city expects to bring in. The city had a budget this year that includes about $2 million more in spending than projected tax income.
Next year, Greenwood will stop spending more than it makes in tax revenue and should be able to save more than $300,000 if the Greenwood City Council sticks to the proposed budget and no other projects come up during the year.
