From the Bloomington Herald-Times:
MCCSC board members will conduct their first review of the district’s $107 million 2013 budget during Tuesday’s school board meeting. Tim Thrasher, comptroller for the Monroe County Community School Corp., will present the budget, which he describes as very similar to last year, adding that most funds should balance out — meaning “expenditures will not exceed revenues.” When it comes to referendum dollars, Thrasher will recommend the board once again approve the 14.02 cents tax rate allowed by referendum. However, he plans to appropriate $7.2 million of the fund, up from the $6.4 appropriated last year. “We know exactly (which teachers are paid from) the fund now and who’s not,” Thrasher said. “It’s not that new positions were added. Now we know who the people are who are filing them and what they are paid. We didn’t have that concrete information when preparing the 2012 budget.” In addition to the budget, Thrasher will also present a capital project funds plan and a bus replacement plan. The board is to approve a final budget in October.... http://www.heraldtimesonline.com/stories/2012/08/28/schoolnews.mccsc-board-members-get-budget-this-week.sto
