La Porte County Treasurer Nancy Hawkins announced at the La Porte County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday that the electronic devices for payments of the tax bills have been established through Elavon and Horizon Bank.
She presented a contract by a company named Elavon.
Elavon’s service charge fee of accepting tax payments by credit card or debit card is 2.56 percent, which is charged directly to the tax payer. If payment is made by an electronic check it will be a flat fee of $1.50.
The company was brought to the table by Horizon Bank who manages most of the county accounts. Elavon is one of Horizon’s partners that processes the bank’s credit cards as well.
Payments will be accepted by them online, by phone or in person by any of the branches in La Porte County of Horizon Bank.
