State Offers Farbest Foods $2.8 Million in Tax Credits for Expansion in Vincennes

From the Indianapolis Business Journal:

A turkey-processing company is breaking ground on a $70 million plant that Indiana officials hope will bring hundreds of jobs to Vincennes.

Farbest Foods first announced plans to open the plant in southwest Indiana in December. The state is offering Farbest $2.8 million in tax credits and $200,000 in job-training grants if the company follows through with its job promises.

Gov. Mitch Daniels plans to join Farbest President Ted Seger for the ground-breaking in Vincennes Tuesday afternoon. Seger said in December the company expects to create 300 jobs at first and possibly add 400 more as the company grows.

Farbest processes roughly 10 million turkeys per year from about 170 growers in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.
