From the Greencastle Banner-Graphic:
Following several years without raises and a number of months of discussion, employees of Putnam County can expect compensation bonuses in December.
The Putnam County Council approved the bonuses on Tuesday evening, with councilmen expressing their appreciation for county employees and wishing they could do more.
"It's something that's really long past due for the employees of Putnam County," councilman Larry Parker said before making the motion for approval.
Full-time employees will receive a $500 bonus as part of the first paycheck in December. Part-time employees will receive $250.
All employees with 90 days of service at that time will receive bonuses.
"One thing about doing (the bonuses) in December is that it's going to really help them out around Christmas," Parker said.
The move must be officially advertised, so final approval will be delayed until the council's Tuesday, Nov. 20 meeting.
The council also gave final approval to the 2013 county budget on Tuesday. The total levy will be $4,599,657 with a tax rate of 0.2873 cents.
