Fall Property Taxes Due Tuesday

From the Lebanon Reporter:

Boone County property owners have until 4 p.m. Tuesday to pay their 2013 property tax bills, County Treasurer Deanna Willhoite said Friday.

Monday is a legal holiday, and the treasurer’s office in the Boone County Courthouse will be closed, so there’s an extension of the payment deadline.

The treasurer’s office is on the second floor of the courthouse. Personal checks, cash, cashier’s checks, certified checks and money orders are accepted for payment. Checks should be made payable to the Treasurer of Boone County.

While payment may be made by credit card, those can be made only through a secure link on the treasurer’s web site (www.boonecounty.in.gov/Default.aspx?tabid=173), or by calling 1-800-809-5849.

A 2.95 percent processing fee will be added for persons paying by credit card.

Although tax payments may be mailed, and will be accepted so long as the envelope is postmarked by the due date, Willhoite’s office cautions on its web site that, under state law, postmark does not mean the date printed by a postage meter that affixes postage to the envelope or package; it is the mark added once a post office receives the letter or package. The address is Boone County Treasurer, 209 Courthouse Square, Lebanon IN 46052.
