American Stationery Company will hire two new employees to operate a new, $460,000 piece of equipment after the Peru City Council approved a 5-year tax abatement Monday on the machinery.The Peru-based company located at 100 N. Park Ave. plans to purchase an HP Indigo 7600 Digital Press, which can print hundreds of color pages per minute.

He said the company currently employees 100 workers, and will add two more positions to run the digital printer.
The council unanimously approved the tax abatement, and praised the 94-year-old, locally owned company for its success in Peru.
“They already employ 100 people and they’re adding two more, so we want to help out this business any way we can,” said council member Phyllis Torrence.
