Times Reports Hobart Council Approves Raise for City Officials and Employees

The City Council gave final approval Wednesday to pay raises for elected officials and employees next year.

Elected officials will receive 2 percent raises in 2014 while Hobart city employees will receive raises of up to 2 percent.

The City Council last month gave initial approval of the increases but tabled final approval pending further discussion about the wording of some positions in the Fire and Police departments.

Those issues were resolved, City Councilman John Brezik, D-4th, said.

It's been about three years since city employees have had a raise, City Councilman Matt Claussen, D-at-large, said.

The lifting of the tax levy will allow the City Council to provide raises in 2014, Claussen said.
